About us
The University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) is an alliance of the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), TU Dortmund University (TUDO) and the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). The UA Ruhr Liaison Office New York (UA Ruhr New York) represents these three universities in North America. UA Ruhr New York was founded in 2004 under the name ConRuhr (Consortium of the Ruhr Area Universities) and is located in New York City. It is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the United States tax code and is supported through contributions by the three Ruhr Universities. With over 120,000 students and 1,300 professors, UA Ruhr represents one of the largest and high-performing research locations in Germany. UA Ruhr New York seeks to promote, support and facilitate academic collaborations between the three Ruhr Universities and partners in the United States and Canada. Innovation and partnership are guiding principles for the Ruhr area’s remarkable transition from a coal and steel powerhouse to Germany’s most cutting-edge science region. As a driving force behind this transformation, the University Alliance Ruhr embodies this regional spirit through excellence in research and the collaboration of its members: the Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen. These universities partner with renowned institutes and companies to shape the new identity of the Ruhr area as Germany’s biggest academic hub with a global reach. Become part of the UA Ruhr network!
